Vaping has become a fashion these days (and rightfully so), which is why it comes as a surprise that a lot of people don’t actually know what it is. Well, we’re here to talk about that. But first, let’s paint a picture. Have you gone out and seen a bunch of woke-looking people sitting and inhaling from metal sticks and blowing out gorgeous looking rings that could not possibly have come from cigarettes? Well, there you have it. Those are e-cigarettes!
So, what is vaping, exactly?
Vaping is the use of an electronic device to imitate the sensation of smoking without the use of tar, ash or chemicals. So essentially, it is getting your daily dose of nicotine, without smoking a cigarette. Still sceptical? Let me clear some doubts.
Let’s begin with the fact that time and again, studies have proven that vaping helps smokers quit. Not only helps, but is the most effective way to do so because neither does one need to cut off nicotine completely, nor is it as inadequate as nicotine gum or patches! Public Health England also released a study saying that vaping is 95% safer than smoking, which means that you get all your nicotine, without the risks of tobacco and other chemicals. And if you’re worried of what goes into it, well here it is. The liquids used in e-cigarettes are made of 3-4 simple ingredients that are: propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, natural/artificial food colouring and nicotine (optional). In fact, good companies often have all their material FDA approved so there’s no need to worry.
Now, having established the functional benefits of vaping, let’s move to the fun part!
Vapes come in many forms and options. There are e-cigarettes and there are Mods. I personally prefer e-cigarettes with their easy, rechargeable batteries. Now, many companies across the world manufacture these and some of the popular Indian brands are: EON, Evolve Vapor etc. As opposed to cigarettes, these come in various interesting and fragrant flavours including but not limited to rich, menthol, green apple etc. Some of the most experimental companies even have flavours like Biryani and paan to suit Indian tastes.
I’m sure by now you must be sorely tempted to try one out- especially if you’re a smoker. So, your next thought probably is- Hmm, this is all great. But what’s the catch?
Let me tell you what is not. The price!
Purchasing an e-cigarette might seem like an expensive purchase, but really its longevity and reuse ensures that it all works out. In fact, vapes turn out to be 60% cheaper when compared to the continuous re-purchase of cigarettes! Even though the first purchase might seem like a bit much, think of it as an investment. What helps is the fact that unlike cigarettes, where you have to smoke till you reach the stub, you can stop smoking an e-cigarette whenever you want. All of this is especially great news if you’re someone who is trying to quit.
All this talk has made me want to go vape on my EON. You should try too. What’s there to lose? After all, if celebs like DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Katy Perry are into it, there must be something to it.
